HR10 Tivo Swap

My friend bought his DirectTivo about two years ago at Circuit City. He has DirecTV coming out Monday to swap it out for anHR-10. Since he bought the DirectTivo himself, doe she have to trun it in to get the deal? I've had twice when Echostar installer tried to take my equipment I bought with them as a "favor".

I just had my system upgraded last week and moved my HR10 to one of the other rooms in my house. I live in Phoenix and I guess I got lucky as they were able to schedule an appointment for the day after I called in.
