My son has an HP 37" LCD HDTV and was wondering if all LCD TV's exhibit this:

He says when watching 24 for example if there are dark shadows in the picture they are so dark that if "Jack" goes into the shadow he completely loses him..He wonders if this is normal for the LCD "blacks" to be so black..He also has the same problem playing an xbox 360 game "Gears of War" with some online maps that take place in dark locations.sometimes losing the character he is controling in the shadows..I have a Sanyo 30" CRT and I dont see these types of problems on it..

Thanks

Bill

LCDs have a narrow contrast ratio and do not handle black shades well. The most expensive LCD panels use a combination of technologies to try and improve black level but it will never approach what you can get from Plasma or CRT.
