Watching the weather channel to see how my sister is doing I was wondering how people are doing up there?
Marcus is the third major storm this year. While watching Mike Sidel reporting from Boston he reported it would be the coldest in 70 years. The combination of cold and snow must be hard on Satellite usage.

Not one storm this year had enough moisture to block the signal.
I just have to laugh, as Az had those two big rain storms that did indeed block our signal and even cause cars to be flooded to the roof, on the freeway. That was a fun day.... They are still fixing power lines about a mile from my house because of those storms.

We vacation often in the Tempe/Scottsdale/Chandler/Mesa areas and have seen how even moderate rain can sit on the highways sometimes. Have seen flooding over cars in Las Vegas. It's the Dust Devils you would never see in the East.

You'll see the younger generation complain about it, or folks that ain't from around here, but all those things you listed... Are why we all live here. It's great. We just aren't prepared for that heavy of rain that quickly... Our drainage system is... Lacking to say the least, but for good reason. Lol. You like it out here in guessing Tampa?

Very much. If Tampa wasn't such a great place I would consider that area to live in, but it has no ocean. We go there often it is a nice contrast to the East Coast. (We just change the vowels of where we are. Tampa - Tempe lol)

My Wife camping?...

Her idea of camping is a Holiday Inn? Up here in the Rochester NY area generly we only get the heavy wet snow only in early or late winter. So far this winter I've lost signal due to snow one time for a couple of hours.

The last time our satellite got blocked was the day of the AFC/NFC Championship (Deflategate). We got ice on the dish and scraped that off and then a few hours later it was blocked by a few inches of wet sticky snow again back on the roof. After mostly a miss (only 7 inches) from Juno we got clobbered with 10 inches on the Friday after Juno, 14 inches on Groundhog Day and another 8 inches on the 5th. Then Sunday the 8th it started snowing in the afternoon and hasn't stopped yet, probably 8 or so inches on the ground so far. Dish hasn't gone out. Yesterday afternoon I went up on the roof to clear snow as my lower roof has almost 3 feet on it now due to several back to back storms and the wind blowing the upper roof snow down to the lower roof. The good news is the dish is on the upper roof and sticks out above the snow level. The bad news is I am worried that someone is going to climb one of the snow piles from snow shoveled off the roof and climb right up on my roof without a ladder!!

DO you people have to carry asbestos gloves during summer so you don't get second degree burns from trying to open your car door?

I cannot believe you people actually remember those dopey names Weather Channel assigns to winter storms.
I cannot think of anything more silly and juvenile.
This is just one reason why it is my hope weather channel goes out of business.

Asbestos could lead to mesothelioma and then you would be eligible for legal settlements maybe not a bad idea.

I'm partially out right now. Just got back from FLA and there's over 3' on my roof. 61.5 is completely out as is my guide data. 72.7 some channels come in and some don't. Watching Golf Channel right now and that works, as did ESPN2 earlier.

Won't be able to go up on the roof until Sat morning. Have a SuperSoaker but with the below zero temps I think it'd make it worse. :biggrin
