my old 3500S has is having problems switching polarities (via coaxial).

It seems to do vertical just fine but has signal (quality) drops on horizontal, the level is always the same at 79%. it is not the wires or lnb and i have tried the receiver on 3 different setups.

When I loose signal on a H tp i just shake the coaxial ot disconnect the coax and the reconnect it... and it comes back. power reset does notthing...

The receiver seems to have more problems when i leave it off for a while... so i always keep it on an running on a H tp channel when i am not watching...

I am guessing the tunner is toast, but it still sorta works so i dont want to toss it yet.

Have you tried resetting it, then reloading the software into it? Software can get corrupted at times, that trick might bring you back to normal.

Got it working again!

SOLUTION FOR ME:

replaced the Tip42C transistor with the Tip42G transistor from radio shack. 2 dollar fix! Receiver works like new. This transistor is the one that changes the voltage to the lnb to flip polarities.
