How to convert HDD from Dish 622 for video storage

I took the HDD out of my old Dish 622 DVR and want to use it as an external storage device for a TiVo Premiere. Its a 320Gb Western Digital SATA.

I put it into a Drive Master 3.5 case and connected it to my computer's USB but Windows XP Dish Management doesn't recognize it nor give me any option to format it.

Is the drive being recognized in your BIOS?

If not, then you either have a bad connection, disabled slot, or a bad drive. I'd first check the bios settings and make sure the SATA port for that disk is enabled. Then, make sure your connections are secure and swap them out if necessary. If neither of these work, then it's most likely the drive is bad.
