how to change remote/receiver control code

I bought an H24 and it came with code #1 preset. I already have a receiver with that code so I would like to change to it code #2. So far I've wasted several hours searching, reading, etc. but all I can find is info about AV and TV codes. Any help here?

Move the slide switch to DIRECTV icon.
5. Press and hold in the MUTE and SELECT keys until the
green light under the DIRECTV icon flashes twice and
then release both keys.
6. Using the number keys enter the 5-digit code. If performed
correctly the green light under the DIRECTV icon
will flash twice.
the 5 digit code you want is 00002

That procedure works fine for changing the remote's code from 1 to 2. I would also like to be able to change the receiver code from 1 to 2. After I change the remote's code to 2 I can no longer control the receiver and I have to change the remote back to 1 which is where I started.

You have to be in the setup remote screen

menu
settings/favorites
settings
remote

then it prompts you which item you want to change...If you select Directv then it gives you the instructions posted above. After you enter the info (the new number) and press select it should acknowledge the change
