Hi guys I'm wondering how noisy would be an actuator for a 2.4 prime focus dish and also what's needed in other words if any prime focus polar mount is enough for this?
The modern actuators are pretty quiet, I doubt you could hear it running from much of a distance. Far as the mount, if your c-band dish has a standard polar mount it should be constructed to allow for an actuator, just two mounting points on it for an actuator.
That looks like an "az-el" mount (azimuth & elevation), not a polar mount, and isn't directly motorizable.
You'd need a polar mount... such as shown in this picture (scroll down for more views)
