I have been with E* for a very long time. Currently have 2 622's and the $65 Top 250 package, $17 HD DUO Receivers, $6 service plan, $6 DVR, and $7.77 Taxes. After all the add-ons my bill is $112. I was at Sam's and got ambushed by a D* rep and he was wanting me to sign up for a $85 Premier package that would be good for the first year and go up $15 in the second year. That was with 1 HD DVR and another HD Receiver with Whole Home. He keep saying that it would be $85 plus Tax.

I know that the Premier has the Premium channels that the Top 250 does not have. And I will lose some HD channels.

My Biggest question was, can I record 2 Satellite channels and also record a off the air station while watching a prerecorded show like I can with mt 622? I never got a straight answer from him.

Still not sure about making the jump due to the fact that I have 2 Hard drives filled the old programing.

go to the website, put in what you want. you can see the prices for any month in the contract

with 1 dvr you can only record 2 program total. you would also need an am21 to get ota
you can go 2 dvrs if you want, there is no extra fee, iirc the dvr fee covers the home not each unit like E*

The Directv dvrs can record two programs at one time. To do more you need another dvr. Like blueoval4ever said, to record ota you need the AM21 tuner along with the dvr.

Just wanted to add to what Raoul said:

The Directv dvrs can record two programs at one time, regardless of the source (OTA or Satellite).

Looks like u save $29/month when u sign up for 2 years at $85 English Packages

It's still the same $7 DVR fee on E* and D* no matter how many DVR's you have, so that's a wash.. But E* charges you by the tuner, not by the receiver. So they charge $7 per tuner, and since the 622's have two tuners, they are a $14/mo charge. The two-tuner HR24 DVR from D* is $5 a month. The catch is, if you were using the 622's to serve two TV's, you will still need receivers for the other TV's as well, which washes with the $14 Duo fee. If you were simply using them as dual tuner DVR's serving one TV each, you will save $9, because the second DVR will only cost you $5/mo instead of $14. But the beauty of it is, if you want 4 DVR's with 8 tuners, it'll still only cost you the same $15 extra in lease/mirror fee that it would if they were all standard single tuner receivers. E* would have you paying $42/mo extra for that many tuners.

As was already said, you need an OTA module to record OTA. You can record any combination of two channels (not 3) at the same time, while watching a 3rd pre-recorded. I believe you can also watch an OTA while recording two sat channels, or watch a sat channel while recording a sat channel and an OTA channel, but I'm not 100% sure because I don't use OTA.

Basically the Premier package is every channel they offer, including all premiums and all regional sports nets. The package directly comparable to Top250 is Choice Ultimate, which is $39.99 the first year, goes up to $54.99 the second year, and regular priced at $68.99. Choice Ultimate is every regular channel they offer (minus a few sports channels, like ESPN Classic, GOL, Outdoor, etc), plus The Movie Channel and Encore (not Starz). [Premiere = Choice Ultimate+HBO/Cinemax+Starz/Showtime+Sportspack, at a savings of $16 versus paying separately.] Don't be fooled by the numbers either, you have to remember that 126 of the channels that makes up Top250 includes two entire sets of music channels.
