I bought a Seagate 3 Tb drive to facilitate the transfer of my programs to a H3 scheduled to be installed tomorrow afternoon. I plugged it in yesterday afternoon. I re-plugged it into the other USB port last evening about 6 PM thinking there must be a problem. My thinking now is that it is going okay but it's just a very long process. The scheduled reboot occurred last night. I assume the process would have started over then. It's been about 10 hours since and it still is humming away but not yet visible as an external drive. Have any of you had a similar experience? How long did the reformat take on your 3Tb?

Try unplugging the Hopper. You should have received a warning that the drive is going to be formatted. Did you see that? Dish only supports 2tb drives.
NO, I didn't get any message at all. I will try unplugging the Hopper and see what happens. Thanks.
Does your Seagate have an external power supply? Dish does not support USB powered drives. It may or may not work properly.
Thanks for the advice. I did a cold restart and after it was up, I plugged in the drive. The formatting question came up and it is formatting right now.
