I guess people did not read to well in what he was complaining about. The $20 dollars Once in awhile he gives to dish comes out of his pocket, which inturn thats less in his pocket. He does not get THE TAX credit at all, DISH NETWORK DOES. I agree with the donate somewhere else so you can get the credit.
What dish is doing is lets say they made $10,000 dollars profit for 2009. They went around asked for money for jean passes. They made $1,000 on said jean passes. They get a write off of the $1,000 dollars for donating. So now its down to $9,000 dollars because they show they gave $1,000 to charity. When in reality They got $11,000 cause they went around asking for the money so DISH NEVER DID REALLY DONATE $1,000, they raised it by asking employees to give for jean passes.
Is that fair?
and I gave him a perfectly viable solution.....

That's BS! He absolutely gets tax creds.[/QUOTE
NOPE he does not. Plus if he says he gave $20 dollars and dish says they gave $20 dollars from his $20 some one is bein screwed. GUESS WHO? And that is breaking the LAW too, THE IRS is not someone you want to mess with trust me. I was audited 3 yrs ago and it was for PER DIEM food allowance per day which was $56 dollars a day. I showed $12,600 dollars I actually spent $18,100 dollars I could have claimed almost $21,000 dollars. I had 3 weeks of crap with IRS to prove myself.
DO you think I got to redo my taxes for $6,000 dollar less I claimed? NOPE but they where trying to collect money from me saying there is no way I spent that much in food.
I've been through an IRS audit. The question comes up, 'did you get any gain from your donation?' "Well, I got to wear jeans." 'Denied.'
The bottom line is: if you don't get a receipt for your donation, you can't deduct it.......
IRS can be ruthless...
My point...he should have gotten a receipt.

I do not contribute to charities at all! There are too many that are geared with padding administration costs & other expenses with no real chance of my money reaching who it was intended for..
Average person Donates about $750 dollars a year to either A. there fav charity or B. Church, AND YOU HAVE TO HAVE A RECEIPT. The more you make the more you can donate to lower ur tax bracket.
You better chek your employee handbook and make sure you dont get fired for posting stuff like this. Had an installer get fired out of my shop for talking down about Dish.

If they don't want it known, why do they do it?
