How can I extend the distance for the remote on a Joey?

Occasionally I take a tv outside to a screened in porch. I have a cable run through my attic from my den that allows me to keep my receiver in the den. I used to have a 612 in the den and I installed a 10' piece of coax on the antenna input on the back of the 612 and it allowed the remote to work great from the porch. But the Joey that I have there now does not seem to have an antenna input. I can sit the Joey on top of the entertainment center in the den and I can get the remote to work somewhat. But it's not great. I keep having to wave the remote around trying to find the sweet spot. Any suggestions? Why would they have an antenna input on the hopper but not the Joey?

can you use an old receiver in a setup with hopper/joey?
