Hopping Mad, I don't even know where to begin...

After calling Dish to no avail, having a tech come out and taking to my Twitter only to get the same tired responses. This seems like a good support group for me.

"Hi my name is Mike. I've had a Hopper and 2 Joeys since week 1, when the techs knew even less about them."

Some issues:
1. If you have the Guide/DVR open, count on the open application to freeze at 7pm and 10pm when Primetime Anytime kicks in.
2. "Searching for Hopper 'Family Room'...(take a bathroom break)." I spent 45 minutes resetting the Hopper and power cycling the Joey so I could watch football lastnight. When I finally gave up, it turned on. (this isn't the first instance)
3. Blank Guide and DVR information is common.
4. Stays on the last channel watched and doesn't allow you to turn it (not even to DVR) - even though the numbers you punch in are shown on the screen. This has happened a couple of times and is really annoying. I've been forced to watch Jerry McGuire and HGTV.
5. I paid extra for the Sling, and I've never been able to get it to work.
6. The Internet connectivity can't connect. (but I can stream a movie on the tablet standing right next to it.)
7. Don't get me started on their "apps".
8. I know there's more...I'm just too tired to think of them.

What I've done:
Coming from an IT background, I'm annoyed that someone actually gave the greenlight to roll this out without having testers first. I called and listened to the scripted speeches. Yes, I reset and power cycled things. Yes everything is connected and tight. Even sent out a tech to confirm. I kind of felt bad for the tech, because you could tell it was just his typical Hopper call that he could do nothing about. Then I took to Twitter and that was useless. I tried again last night, they asked me to contact them privately, and when I DM'd my information and asked what they thought they could do for me...I didn't get a response back.

AMC is gone and they want to take away Big 10 Network too, you've got to be kidding me.

DirecTV keeps calling me to come back. Even willing to pay most of my cancellation fee. HEAVILY considering it.

Any rays of hope on the horizon?

Welcome to the site, and sorry to hear about you Hopper problems. Most of your issues are not common compared to what has been reported hear. I would recommend contacting a D.I.R.T (Dish Internet Response Team) member with these issues. You can see when one is online here by going to the main Forum page, scroll down to the bottom, and their names will be highlighted in red. Send one of those folks a PM, and they WILL be more than happy to assist you. They are an awesome group of folks that want to help. Good luck and keep us posted.

The issues you're reporting are not typical of most users. I've had 2 Hopper and 1 Joey since the second week of availability and the system has been pretty rock steady. There were a few issues that cropped up with firmware 213, but I haven't had any need to reboot since 221 came along.

Have the Hopper or the node been replaced? People on these forums have reported issues. But most, nowhere near to what you are experiencing.

I would PM a Dirt member here and see if they can help you out in any way.

yeah, message DIRT. Very few of your problems are common here. After s221, my 2H/1J system is actually more stable now.

What equipment has been replaced in your system so far? hopper? node? wiring?

are your issues specific to one hopper? how are you trying to connect your hopper to the internet?

i'd be double checking that all the installation rules were followed: http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=279755

I just pay the 6 bucks it is well worth it in my opinion. They are at my house at least every 2 months to fix something so I pay it. And now that you have a hopper it is so worth it, you don't have to worry about anything with the protection plan I realize that it is 6 bucks but these hoppers something can go wrong any min and if you don't have it its a pain to add it and then take it off. The only thing about my system that I personally own anymore is my 3rd hopper and if they would have leased that to me I would have, but they made me buy it so that is the only piece of owned equipment that I have.
