Hello, I am looking for some help with my system. These issues have been happening more often over the last several months. Today, my wife was trying to watch one of the joeys and she would see the Dish screen saver quickly, but then it just went to a black screen and I had to hold down the power button to reset it until it would work. Tonight I am watching the hopper and pause it for a few minutes, but when I hit play, nothing happens, it will not resume. I called support and had a 14 minute wait but after waiting 12 minutes the line hung up. So I called back and the wait was now 16 minutes. I think I need new hardware but I am worried about all the old recordings I have on the DVR.

I bought my first Dish system from Sears in 97' and have been with them since except for a 2 year break during the HD wars with Direct in the mid 2k'2. But I am now worried about a merger, a creeping bill and failing hardware that I no longer own but pay a lease fee for. I hope I can get this figured out without a 2 year lock-in.

Thanks for any help that is offered.

The first thing to do is unplug the Hopper from power, do the same with your Joey/s. Leave the Hopper unplugged for a minute and plug it back in. Let it reboot and see if you can get the Hopper to play. If that works plug the Joey back in and let it reboot. Report back with your results.

Thank you Bobby, I can resume watching tv by using the guide and switching channels or rebooting the joey in the case of the black screen. But last weekend for example, I paused the nascar race for about 20 minutes, then I could not play again, so I missed all the time it was paused. This has been happening with increased frequency.

There you go again! Once more you provide calm level headed advice and ruin a potentially good thread to bitch about Dish Service.
