Hey Guys,

I'm new to Dish Network and love the Hopper with Sling adapter. But, I work nights and am having trouble getting things to work properly after 1am when I assume my Hopper has gone to sleep/update. I can watch LiveTV but cannot see my DVR. I'm always tempted to call my wife (getting her out of bed) and asking her to go down stairs and 'turn on' the hopper.

Any trick making things work remotely after 1am?

I have a 2H/4J system with a sling on each Hopper. I also work nights like you, but I am able to use my slings during the early mornings.

I am assuming you can't use it anytime after 1:00 AM? (2,3,4,5,....)

What do you to get it working again?

Do you think it is a Hopper issue or LAN issue?

My upgrades occur at 1:15 from Dish....I have a family of five (includes 3 teenagers ). So our TV viewing goes late at night. I have extended my idle time to 8 hrs to sleep/hibernate mode.

I will run tests tonight to see if Hoppers or off, on, or sleep mode. My biggest issue is bandwidth, I only have a 6mb connection (live in the country) and I have a iPhone 3GS.....but it works !!!

At times if my kids or on the Internet it has issues!!!

Ok... I ran my tests ..

(1) Turned one Hopper on at 1:00 and the other Hopper I turned off or standby.

(2) Upgrade started around 1:18 and finished at 1:24.

(3) The Hopper that was on is now off/standby, I connected through Sling adapter and all tests out ok....connected first time & picture checks out ok and good.

(4) The Hopper that was off/standby... Received the update and stayed off/ standby mode. I attempted to connect through Sling adapter. The first couple of attempts didn't work so well. I connected and saw the guide, but it would only let me record & not watch a program. I killed the app on my iPhone and started again, the third time was a charm. I was able to watch TV and get DVR shows at will and watch them.

It is now close to 2:00 and I can connect to either Hopper and watch through the slings.

What kind of errors are you getting?
What have you done to solve your issue?

Just trying to help !!

At least you get something.. I have yet to get my sling adapter to work on my hoppers. I get no video at all on my Android phone. Goes through all the motions of finding and optimizing and then a big blue box that says "weak of no video signal.

Do you get the "Low Bandwidth" error?

No errors.. Just blue screens and black screens. On the hopper it show the tuner being used for remote viewing. I can only get video on my phone when I actually am watching the same channel on my TV. The minute I change channels on the actual Hopper/TV the video freezes or goes black on my phone..

Any one have any clues?

Sounds like you are at home during these attempts.... Ok are you using Wifi or your CellPhone data.?? How big is your Internet connection??? Sometimes at home my Internet traffic is high and I will have to use Cellphone data to connect with the sling. The above test that I did around 2:00 AM was WIFI to LAN/Ethernet .

Can you connect and watch with a PC?
(at Home or Away from Home)

My SlingLoaded 922 is so hit and miss with the Sling feature, but mostly MISS, and it is so slow and cumbersome to use. Such a frustrating experience. Mostly I just can't get it to work like the OP and others. I've using it only recently for the last several weeks during home renovations as it is the only way I can watch TV or recordings (others use the ONE TV connected to the 922 during our rehab) and man I know now why so many complaints about the DishOnLine experience. I can't even watch ON Demand sometimes. It's pretty lame experience. So unreliable.

Now, I could get the Slingbox, as many have said it is by far the superior experience, but it uses the foreground tuner and costs a lot more than the Adapter. However, if I were to really rely on a Sling function, I think I would get bite the bullet and get the Slingbox.

I had the sling pro hd box and it worked for 5 months then burnt out and I replaced it under the 2 year warrenty with Bestbuy. I used the new replacement for 1 month and it too burnt out . This time I just got my money back and bought a new a/v receiver instead. Makes no difference if it is the sling adapter or the stand alone sling box , I have given up on SLING period.

Yeah, I have also seen way too many reviews on Amazon that are pretty much your story. The box works great, but it seems to have no durability and dies in less than a year. It is so sad because when it works, it is GREAT! I think we all want it to work so much that we're willing to take the chance. But I won't be buying a Sling Box Pro HD after all.

Hopper would not power on
