Hopper 3 U516

From what I am hearing the Google Assistant icon was supposed to be hidden as its not working yet. Guess some work needs to be done on Googles Side before it will work.

The trick play from a second Hopper bug is still there, however I am hearing a fix is being tested now. This one is harder for them to test as only a small amount of testers have a 2 hopper setup.

Noticed the Weather Channel Icon in the menu tab has changed with U516.
I can only guess the reason for that, but I am thinking a possible contract dispute between Dish and The Weather Channel. It has been three years since the last contract was signed. Dish added Weather Nation at that time, just in case they had to drop The Weather Channel. So, with the change in icon, maybe Dish is hoping fewer people will notice, if Dish eventually has to change that icon to link to the Weather Nation app instead of the Weather Channel app.

Just like the Alexa Assistant, the Google assistant is not enabled unless you activate it yourself.

Unless you went through some sort of pairing process/procedure, similar to how the Alexa system worked, not sure what there would be to disable.

Don't use any other devices that have the Google Assistant feature.

It’s not even active yet

I get that in order to USE Google Assistant with Dish, I would need to “pair” my Hooper 3 with my iPhone(s), etc.. And since we don’t use Google Assistant, Alexa, Siri, etc. on any of our iPhones, Macs, etc.. that won’t happen.

But it is not so clear whether there will be a connection between my Hopper 3 and Google (or Amazon) even if if I do not actually USE Google Assistant (or Alexa). Clearly Dish Anywhere knows a lot about my Hopper 3, including its IP address, DRV Recordings, Timers, etc. How much, if any of this data does Dish share with Google or Amazon?

I’m not trying to start a conspiracy theory or suggest that Google or Amazon are snooping on Dish Subscriber’s viewing habits/preferences. I’m just curious whether Dish has made any statement about sharing subscriber data with Google / Amazon as part of their business relationships.

So it baffles me that it has been a year and they have yet to address a bug in the core functionality of the DVR.

Problem:
Disappearing & reappearing recorded events

Time Frame: June 2017 to Date (introduced with the “new hopper experience” update)

Affected Systems: Hopper 2 with Sling, Hopper 3

Resolution: No ETA

Nothing disappearing or reappering here on Hopper 2's or Hopper 3's.

I have two HWS. Give them my name, I’ll test. And keep my mouth shut, if they will also. Although they may think I’ve become a tad jaded about their software....

What bug are you referencing. The only DVR problem I have is the trick play on a remote hopper which broke when the U510 software update was introduced.
