Is there a hopper 3 FAQ anywhere? Because I feel like others would be interested in this info...

My hopper 3 shows total space of 1231gb and free space of 340gb, so, about 72% full, but the DVR says it is 78% full.

A few nights ago after I rebooted it, it was 65% full, then I recorded only a few hours of tv overnight, but the next morning it showed 72% full.

So, it seems to always show 6 - 7% more than is actually used??? why???

Both times were with the trash emptied, but maybe they were still calculated in the %?

Is it possible to set a timer to automatically save to EHD?

OKAY, now for my most pressing questions...

For an EHD, is it now possible with the Hopper 3 to load and use it with over 1,000 programs?
My old receiver would only show the first 1,000 items. Need to know before I buy another EHD...

At what HD% does it start deleting things?
I would assume it would empty from trash first?
Then oldest nonprotected show?
Does it do a full delete or put it in the trash?
Does it tell you when it deletes something because it is full? (like my old received did under history)

thanks

I believe that the VOD programs that are downloaded to the receiver also take up space so that may be the reason for the discrepancy you are seeing. Also, do you have PTAT turned on? If so that would be other items that would take up space which you didn't have a specific timer set for. Someone else can confirm I'm sure.

Never ever used PTAT - only downloaded 1 SD 1 hour shows ever - deleted the same day

Differences between available space and percentages are likely related to sectors used, and is not worth worrying about. PPV is downloaded to the reserved space and is not part of the "user" space.

do these PPV download from satellite or using my internet connection?

So, without all my questions answered, I went ahead and bought a USB self-powered portable 2tb EHD and it works fine for me. DISH says they don't for some reason... YMMV

STILL REALLY WANT THESE ?s answered

You can only see the first 1000 still, and it will delete the oldest recordings at 100% full(when actually at 100%). It will not move them to trash, it will permanently delete.

Speaking of trash, do trashed items automatically delete after a certain amount of time? I know I deleted some stuff recently but trash is empty. Never been above 55% capacity.

Still haven't found...
