I have one major issue before I switch from Cable to Direct. I have an office upstairs that for some reason the cable guys couldn't get me a cable line to, so I have to run a cable splitter from a bedroom TV accross the hallway and to that TV. Can I still have a DIRECT DVR in the office even though the cable line is coming from a splitter in the bedroom???

Usually you need a dedicated line from the satellite switch to each receiver.

With some of Dish Networks new receivers you can have the DVR in one room and the second TV gets the signal modulated onto a analog TV channel, you control the second TV with a UHF remote.

I am not sure if DirecTV has something like that but they might.

Dish Antenna.............1-4 rg6 cables to a ground block or multiswitch.......single runs to DTV receivers
.......dual cable to DVRs

You will still need another cable even if you use a barrel connector for the existing line.
No splitters between the dish and the receiver.

The installer will probably want to run an exterior line through the bedroom wall with a dual cable.

Short answer is no.

I'd really like to go to satellite, preferably directv, but I'm told that in order to have full functionality for the dvr's, there need to be two cables into the dvr. Unfortunately, I only have one cable into each room, so does anyone know of a workaround solution to having two cables (I'd like to avoid drilling holes and having to pay a lot of extra fees to fish the second cable through the house). If not, has anyone heard if there's any technology coming that would mean I'd only need one cable? Thanks.

There is a SWM (Single Wire Multiswitch) on the horizon.

This will do what you want but getting one at any price is hard now. DTV ain't talking. They are testing is in a few markets.........imagine the mess if an expensive fix like this doesn't work.

Wait.
