As you may have noticed we were down for a few hours today.
vBulletin recently put out a release recomending that we upgrade our php software to 4.3.10 due to security concerns which existed in older PHP versions.
I have updated PHP here many times with zero problems (and without taking the board down to do it) however today's upgrade did not go well.
After I crashed the web server (all other SatelliteGuys services remained online including email and The Holiday Channel) I tried figuring out what was wrong and couldnt find what was wrong so I called in for help from our resident Server Guru LER who took a look. The problem also stumped him as well.
After much research Ler discovered that our PHP accellerator (MMCACHE) did not like the new version on php and kept causing PHP to crash. So once we went through and removed the accellerator everything started working again.
So sorry for the outtage, but I do hope it gave you a chance to finish any last moment shopping wrapping or gave you some time to spend with your family.
A big thank you to LER (Larry) for his help and keen eye.
Again sorry for the unexpected downtime and happy holidays!
