German distributor Highlight Video has announced that, beginning on March 1st, they will exclusively support the Blu-ray, only releasing high definition titles in that format. The first film released by Highlight Video which will fall under this new policy will be 'Lissi, und der wilder Kaiser', an animated parody of the 1955 German film 'Sissi'.
The reason for the change in policy was very similar to market research results Warner Brothers had referenced when stating their Blu-ray exclusivity, which showed that Blu-ray was overwhelmingly more successful (including in the German market) than its rival.
