hey....anyone using a starchoice dish?

im new to this and i jus got a viewsat ultra off a buddy ..now i am using a starchoice dish..how do i make this all work without going up on my roof and changing the diretion of the satilite...? thanx

That's a rather unique way to go about setting up a system. In most cases, people fall into one of two categories: 1. You know what programming you want and what satellite it is found on, and set a stationary dish for that. 2. You want programming from multiple satellites (or just "want to see what's available") and install a motorized dish.

The short answer, i suppose, is hook up the coax and you'll get whatever you get...Likely a complete waste of time in itself, considering what it is probably pointed at.

Ummm..........you don't.
You can use a Star Choice dish, that's no problem but you will have to repoint at another satellite.
I'm currently using 3 Star Choice dishes for all my Ku band reception.

without changing the satellite dish all you get is AnikF1 & F2 which has
-AnikF1 has nothing FTA
-AnikF2 has 2 scrambled channels

as noted above, get a 30" dish and a KU LNB and start enjoying FTA....what did you exprect to pick up with it with what you have?

yup anikf1 is what i only get...my buddy at work is the one who introduced me into this whole fta thing .. he is great with hooking up dishnet " i belive" .. but hes stuck on mine because i am using a starchoice dish ..im not too happy with my starchoice so i wanna see another side of satellite viewing ..see what shows that might catch my eye that i do not get on my starchoice...... so i got the view sat ultra .to get this to run i i would have to put up a new satelite dish on my roof ? or point it at another direction i.e dishnet cordinets ...would that work.

Why would you want DishNet coordinates? Other than a couple of Barker channels and NASA TV, there's nothing FTA on E* satellites. You CAN however, point your dish at 129 and get White Springs TV off of T7.
