Atlanta and Arizona would argue that you don't need consistency, you need talent in your coaching positions.

:up you're right you still need good or great players. people forget it takes a team to win games & championships. not just one player or coach.Please...what happened in had NOTHING to do with "coaching talent" and more to do with team talent....and QB play. You gonna tell me that these nobody coaches are that much more talented the Gruden, Holmgren and Shanahan? LOL!
Got to agree, on the Pro level, players sure do seem to make genius's out of a lot of coaches. The guy coaching the Lakers surely has benefited from having Jordan, Shaq, and Kobe.
Those teams don't need a coach, they need a psychoanalyst to keep the prima donna stars working as team players. That's where Phil Jackson excels. Maybe he WOULD make a good coach for the Raiders.Got to agree, on the Pro level, players sure do seem to make genius's out of a lot of coaches. On this date,January 30th, 1960,the group representing the city of Oakland was offered the 8th and final original AFL franchise.
Oakland was awarded the AFL franchise after the group representing the Minnesota franchise opted out of joining the AFL to instead join the NFL beginning in 1961.
The 3 people most responsible for the city of Oakland receiving the final original AFL franchise are Lamar Hunt,George Halas, and Barron Hilton.
It was Lamar Hunts idea to form the AFL after the NFL told Hunt that the league was not interested in expansion, and after Hunt was unable to work out a deal to buy the Chicago Cardinals and move them to Dallas.
Bears owner George Halas played a role after it was apparent that Hunt was serious about going ahead with his new league and after he refused offers to accept an NFL franchise. Halas was instrumental in getting the group representing the Minnesota franchise to withdraw from the AFL and join the NFL. Thus creating an opening for another AFL team.
Chargers owner Barron Hilton also played a huge role in the city of Oakland getting a team. After the Minnesota group withdrew from the new league, league owners wanted to award the last franchise to Atlanta. Hilton told league owners that he would withdraw from the league if the AFL owners did not put another franchise on the west coast to serve as a rival for his Chargers and help cut down on travel costs for his team.
On January 30th, 1960, the AFL owners awarded the last original franchise to a group of owners representing the city of Oakland. Thus was born the team that would soon become the Oakland Raiders.

What sickens me is the OC and DC they chose!! I'm not saying they suck just because they are old. Matter a fact i really think some older coaches are great but these two guys!!:down(Please Lord please let me be dead WRONG!!)the raiders will finally announce tom cable as their head coach tomorrow. it's about damn time!
Looks like Jerry Porter will be resigned soon.Raiders re-sign Lechler and Chris Johnson for 4 years. Looks like we're gonna franchise Aso. Wish we couldve signed him long-term, best CB in the NFL. Kwame Harris and Curry are rumored to be cut soon. Had to revive the Raider thread!

The figure is huge... but 3 years... wtf.

This is GREAT NEWS!! We have him locked up for 3 years....and when we are better, the Raiders have the option for another contract. I have always thought that anything more than 3 or 4 years was to long on anything other than a franchise QB.
