I have a hopper hardwired with an Ethernet cable and have the 207 software. And I'm wondering what exactly does the home media option do? I assumed I could access the music and photos from my computer but I'm not sure exactly. I went into home media and it didn't show any devices. What do I need to do to get the hopper to see my computer? I have an iMac if that matters. I'm coming out of a wireless router, but I have the iMac, hopper, blue ray player, and Xbox all hard wired from the router. Maybe I'm wrong on what exactly the home media does?

The Home Media option allows you to view content from a "DLNA" compatible server. Basically you have a computer or other device that stores and shares media (photos, music, video) over your network and a device like the Hopper/Joey can play it. Windows 7 has the feature built in or you can purchase any number of DLNA server software packages. Several of the popular packages are: PlayOn, TVersity, Nero MediaHome and Serviio. Google any of those and you will be able to get more info.

The main thing is that you need the storage device to "advertise" itself on the network for the Hopper to see it.

Well after googling those options I would definitely want something that's free. I would just like something that works well with Mac and will allow me to see music and photos from the computer to the hooper. So is anyone actually using any of these that they would recommend?
