This will be our first C-band set up and i was looking for some help.

We will be receiving 300cm aluminum mesh dish and necessary mounting parts that come with it. Been reading a lot and a bit confused on what I actually need to go with the dish.

Will be trying to lock to Apstar 7 @ 76.5E(Global Beam) from approximately 49.835802, 24.088098 location.

LNB
There seems to be good responses on Norsat LNBs but i am not sure which one to buy. Would anyone know the difference between, for example:
Norsat 8215 C-Band DRO LNB
Norsat 8225R C-Band DRO LNB
Norsat 8530I C-Band DRO LNB
All of the above are available in ebay USA.

Feedhorn
This is where I get confused. Not really sure what I need here but looks like Chaparral feedhorn will do just the job?

Am I missing something for the set up?

Thanks in advance.

PLease clarify your location . Apstar7 satellite is on the other side of the earth from North America. Is your location Chicago, IL. or is it Lviv Oblast, Ukraine? The footprint for this satellite is focused rather tightly on the India region. See:
http://www.satbeams.com/satellites?id=2456

What type of programming are a channel that you are trying to receive? Maybe the programming is available on another satellite that can be received at your location.

My temp. location is Lviv. Ukraine. The programming is not available anywhere but on Apstar 7.

Pookah did you check lyngsat.com for that channel? They update that side of the world themselves in west hemi it's on a wing and prayer to get it right.

I found specs for the 3 different LNBs here:
http://www.satcomresources.com/Norsat-8530I-C-Band-DRO-LNB
http://www.satcomresources.com/Norsat-8225R-C-Band-DRO-LNB
http://www.satcomresources.com/Norsat-8215-DRO-LNB

The main obvious difference is frequency range - each have a different range - "Standard" C-Band range is 3.4-4.2 GHz which is the Norsat 8215

Looking at the freq range of APT7 you want the Norsat 8215. Depending on the feedhorn you use will deterimine if you need 1 or 2.

If you go for a feedhorn with a polarizer you will need just 1 LNB (make sure youre receiver can control it).

If you go for a "dual fixed" feedhorn you will need 2 LNBs.

Have you tried online streaming sources? (not sure if that's blasphemy around here :D )

Just a thought!

Seeing those footprints, I(If I were you) 'd be finding a good European board, and inquire there as to if that 'channel' can be received at your location.
