My dog is missing

the gate was closed, he is small old and blind, cant hear too well
he couldn't just open the gate on his own, and i even have the gate tied up with bungeecords

he is missing since one week this saturday April 15th

i hung up signs all over, i went to police station too to report him missing

Now just now today someone called me, i think kids playing games/jokes prunk, asking me what the dog looks like and whats the reward, i told the caller the description of the dog and the amount of the reward,
after i told the amount of the reward the caller said thank you and hang up

i called back, and i heard kids joking around in the background, that i was calling about the dog

I have the caller phone numebr from my caller id display
its a call from a cell phone

i think they have my dog just dont want to tell me

Should i call the police dept and tell them someone called me, and was playing a joke on me, and let them check it out ?

Please help me out guys, the dog means a lot to me

Looks like the Cell phone call came from a US Cellular based number
that all i could find out at the moment while searching the internet

I would be going crazy if I were in your position. Yes, I'd call the police but I wouldn't really expect them to act upon this.

If the kids have the dog you'd think they'd be actually trying to collect the reward rather than just jerk you around, but kids can be really stupid.

I wish you very much luck in getting your dog back.
