Hello, Can someone please help? :)
We recently just had the Dish guy out to set up our TV. We upgraded to 2 DVR boxes for a total of 4 TVs. He put one DVR box in our basement for our kids TV and Guest room TV and put another DVR box in our living room that also runs our Master Bedroom. Our kids TV broke yesterday and we dont have a TV in our guest room yet. So, I want to put the DVR box that is in the basement in our Master bedroom so we can use it and not have it run off the DVR that is in the living room. When we eventually get the kids another TV I will connect that TV to the Living Room DVR and then someday when we get a guest room TV will connect that to our Master Bedroom DVR.

My question is how to switch the DVRs with the TVs. The cables are already running to them it would just be switching what TV runs off what DVR, right?

I'm afraid it's not that simple. Basically you have to have a quality (RG6) independent coax from the Dish antenna/LNB assembly or switch all the way to each receiver's satellite tuner input(s). The coax going from the receiver to TVs in other rooms can be lower quality (RG59), and definitely will not, as presently wired, carry the satellite dish antenna signal.

It can be done, but you have to know which cable goes where, and what signal is on them. Additional cabling may be required.

The receiver in the living room that is feeding the master b.r. should have a diplexer somewhere near the ground block usually put in the basement close to where the lines come in off the dish. The diplexer looks like a splitter, but isn't. The side that says "In/Out" feeds the living room. The "UHF" input is feeding tv2 in the master bedroom. Remove tv2 line from diplexer, connect to the "OTHER" diplexer's "IN/OUT" (Other meaning the diplexer feeding kids room and guest room). Move receiver from kids room to master bedroom and you should be fine. The line hopefully will be rg6, if it was run new at your install, it should be. Good Luck!
