I ordered a tailgating kit for my receiver (HR-24) and it came with a slimline dish and a SL5S4NR2-14 LNB. I could not get it to work because my receiver was never set up for SWiM. I asked the company that I bought it from to send me a non-SWiM LNB and they sent me a LNB 18x20 and I still cannot get it to work!!! Now I have shelled out mucho bucks and can't use any of the equipment. What should I do? They won't take a return at this point :-(

Why can't you use what they originally sent you, the HR24 does do SWM, as long as they sent you the Power Supply as well, you have everything to make it work.

I am just tempted to just sell the kit :-(. The only thing I got in the kit was the power inserter and SWM 4 Way Splitter. Don't I need a SWM ODU and a SWM ASL to find the signal? I really wish that hadn't ordered what was supposed to be compatible with the receiver and gone with the cheaper setup.

perman10, you already have what you need. The power inserter goes inline between the lnb and the HR24, that's it! When you connect to the HR24, it will self detect the swm setup.

Will my basic satellite finder (winegard) still work to find signal with the power converter in-line? Or should I find the sat position first and then put the power converter in-line? I have a BBC so I can go either way...SWM or on-SWM. I am frustrated because I ordered the kit based on what direct tv said they installed on the house. They did not do what was written down on the service guys paper because it is set up as a SL3 with a multiswitch.

Make the basic settings on the dish and connect the power inserter. Point the dish to the 101 satellite and check for signals on that one satellite in the signal strength menu. Assuming your adjustments are close, you should be getting some signal. Get it as high as possible on 101, then check to see what you have on 99c and 103ca and 103cb.

Use the dither adjustments to fine tune the 99 and 103 from there.
