I am a Dish Network subscriber but don't have visibility to the 129 satellite to receive my locals in HD. Therefore I am trying to use the wineguard antenna that I have left over from my Voom account. It is the largest antenna that Voom supplied, sorry I don't have the model number right now. Anyway, what I am finding is that I am only receiving 11.1 and 34.1 and both of those have a variable signal strength that runs from about 50 to the mid 60s. Right now my dish is pointed due south.

My question is, do I get a different antenna or try moving this one to get better reception? I have a roof mount right now. The antenna is basically attached to a sattelite dish pedestal. If I want to try to find the sweet spot, how do I do that without drilling my roof full of holes?

Physically my home is surrounded by a mature hardwood forest to the East, South and West. Furthermore, I have a ridge that is about 20 to 40 feet taller than my roof to the South.

Any advice, help that you could provide would be much appreciated.

RoswellGA, if your winegard antenna looks similar to the one in the link below it has a signal amplifier built in. if you havent moved that antenna and want to try it you can call winegard and tell them you have a winegard antenna that voom installed and need a power supply for it.

If it looks like the antenna in the link above, it's junk. You'll need to get a good antenna for your distances- they aren't all that expensive.

Need an antenna recommendation..
