Hello Billy Joel channel Bye Bye Big Bands

I miss XM. The Sirius philsophy on programming seems to have won out in ALMOST all cases. I was always baffleda t why folks here seemed to oerwhelmingly prfer Sirius. Was it just the Stern factor?

Yeah, I've gone overboard over the loss of the 40s. I don't have many Big Band CDs, and am not happy with the ones I have. But if I drop Sirius, that will pay for a few more. Everything is getting homogenized. And predictable. And dull. Glad I already dropped their Internet service. Sent from my iPhone using SatelliteGuys[/QUOTE

Fine tune is reporting that the Billy Joel format will be there through June 25. Their stating that their has been several complains about the format change. The 40's on 4 is available on line.
After June 25 there is no decision on what will happen to the channel format.

I preferred XM to Sirius, however my new car had Sirius in it, so I now have both.

Are they not one of the same now ?

Channel numbers are not the same ... for example, MLB Network is 89 on XM and 209 or somewhere around there on Sirius, I have presets on the Sirius so I don't know the exact number.

A lot of channels ended up being the same on both, but alot did not.

The MLB play by play by play (games) on XM were from 175 up to 189 continious, on Sirius they are scattered about.
Hopefully they address this issue this year, btw the NFL games are the same way on Sirius.

Heres wondering if they are going to put a Billy Joel Channel on the screen, I know once you find the channel down below it says it, but the avitar still says 40s on 4.
So essentially I dont think you can use the Voice commands to go to Billy Joel channel as hes on channel 4.

This may not be up because its only been on a day now, or it may not get changed because its a temperary channel, only 3 months.

I know Springsteen has his own Art work.

Mine did. And I can say Tune to Bill Joel and it takes me to channel 4.

I am against having any "artist-only" channels. If someone is that big a fan, they can buy the CDs.
Elvis
Bruce
Pearl Jam
Grateful Dead
Semi Jimmy Buffet

And in my opinion, none of these artists, save Elvis, have a catalog that can support a channel all by itself. I have tuned to Bruce periodically and you get a hit and then they have to place a B side as filler. I guess if you are an uber fan you would know these songs but if you are an uber fan you have all of the original vinyl, cds, remastered cds, special editions, box sets, etc....

I acknowledge that I can't stand the Grateful Dead and when they go into their never ending jams I would just as soon have my fingernails pulled out.

I have periodically requested a Beatles channel, throw in the their solo work as well but I suspect the royalty fees are too high for SXM.

And I am one of the holdouts that say the original XM lineup/format was better than Sirius. I am also someone who grew up listening to Stern and about 1995 I "grew up" and stopped laughing like a retard at everything he said. I have tried periodically to listen but as soon as the strippers and porn stars come in studio I check out again for a few months.

Yrs they are one and the same now----for most things. the compalint was that after the merger the Sirius philosophy of programming won out when some of us preferred XM>

I think thats the point of having your own channel, yes, you have ton of hits but it's also there so you can hear alot of the Non hits as well ... as well as many interviews.

Hmmm, I'll have to try it today, as of when I posted it, the Voice command would not recognize Billy Joel Channel ... also said 40's on 4 last I checked ..

As I mentioned, I'll try again today and see if it's just an update that hasn't gone thru yet.

Ok, just went out and checked and it's still the same, says 40's on 4, down below is has 40's on 4 Art work and below that it says whatever is playing and then Billy Joel Channel.

Why no Billy Joel Art work ?
Why doesn't the screen show

4 Billy Joel Channel

instead it says :

40's on 4
40's on 4 Art work

below that

Joel song

below that

Billy Joel Channel

Sirius and XM have pretty much the same music line up now. So yes it is on XM radios as well.

My Lincoln MKZ is still showing 40s on 4 name/artwork, but the Billy Joel content and usually the artist line is @billyjoel channel.

I'm actually enjoying the content.......
