While channel surfing through the PPV section, I noticed that all the HD PPV's are listed for $2.99 with the limited recording option. Is this a new pricing scheme going forward, or just a limited time price reduction to go along with the turbo pricing? At $2.99, I may actually get PPV once in awhile rather than driving to the video store.

it's 2.99 because of that new limit of 4hrs. not sure if there is another option for a 24hr rental for more money. is it $6.99? maybe someone else can answer that part

I gave them too much credit thinking they would actually lower the movies to a price that may encourage people to buy them. In that case, I will continue to never rent any PPV's from E*.

you are paying for the connivence of not having to leave your couch to see these movies;
the price is high, but some people can't or WON't leave their house or even walk to their mailbox to rent movies...
For me, the 4 hour nonsense means I will NEVER rent from them while that ridiculous rule is in effect. Nor would I pay 6.99 for any of the movies they are offering..

Sounds just like how the cablecos advertise their PPV or VOD services. Sorry, but it's NOT an inconvenience to me to go rent a movie. The selection is a wee bit better too !

its EXACTLY how they advertise it...and, that strategy MUST work becasue cablecos make millions on PPV..
I agree; PPV is usually a big waste of $$$

Once I get the software update, I will probably watch I AM Legend for the 2.99..I have a 1080P sony 70inch SXRD, and I am curious as to how this will compare to Blu-Ray....

I think PPV is a profit machine for Dish and DirecTV too.

It's a profit machine for all of them. When my aunt was living with us, she bought at least 4 or 5 PPV's a month! But it was still less expensive than if she went and paid for a movie ticket, and here in Los Angeles and the suburbs, it costs over 10$ for a ticket. So, Dish PPV was a "savings" to her. She used to spend to much money going out to see movies.

1000.5 dish?
