HDMI cable blocks RF output?

Recommended buddy that just got Cablevision's HD DVR connect it to his new Toshiba 32" LCD HDTV by HDMI cable, but now the old bedroom TV he fed by box's RF output is blocked by a Copy Protection error message. What should I tell him?

Use component for the LCD.

Just need to shut the cable box off and turn it back on. Don't unplug the cable box just press the cbl button on the remote. Its happened twice for me in like 6 months so don't worry about it happening that often.
