Okay, so it looks like I'm probably not going to get Kansas City HD locals on 129W. That leaves me with 61.5 HD and OTA locals, which is fine, because a 622 or 722 will have an OTA tuner. I have AT200 + Locals, which is cool, but can a ?22 guide integrate satellite locals with OTA HD, showing me SD locals from satellite with all of the HD channels and subchannels?

To the point, on Friday night, can I:
- Record Next Great Band on a satellite tuner from 110W and
- Watch Next Great Band live on Fox 4-1 using the ?22 OTA tuner?

in a word----yup

If you can get OTA locals, I say, "Go for it!". :)
I get my locals through Dish (SD only in my area) and I get my locals in HD OTA. Antenna plugged into 622, scan for channels, done deal. They show up in the guide (including subchannels) grouped right there with my dish locals.

Why do OTA if you can get dish locals?

Because now you've got 3 tuners in use and you can record from all 3. If I'm recording a local channel I normally choose to record the OTA HD version. While doing that I can record something off satellite and also WATCH something off satellite. Or just record on all 3 while I go out for the evening.

The OTA channels show up in the guide as long as you've already subscribed to Dish's local package and you can select and record them from teh guide just as though they were delivered by satellite.

I don't see any reason NOT to have OTA. If Dish ever gets off their (butt) and delivers HD locals here, I'd STILL keep my OTA.

:)

Yep... highly recommend locals and OTA combination to any satellite sub. It's always great to have a backup plus the recording options.
