HD FTA Help

Alright. I am slowly getting to where I want to be. I need some help though. How are you guys getting the HD channels off of the satellite and onto your TV's without the purchase of expensive HD FTA receivers.

I'm hoping for a component cable hook up from my computer. Can such a thing be done? And if so, what equipment do I need?

If you want to connect direct to the PC I think the best bet is DVI.

Others are streaming the HD content via ethernet to a set top box such as the LinkPlayer 2 or Roku.

There's also the excellent VLC Videolan program (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/), which is great for streaming HD media on a PC.

As Shawn said, DVI is perfect for getting HD out of a PC to a HD monitor. If your monitor has HDMI instead, an adaptor cable is available for $50-$75 that has HDMI on one end and DVI on the other.
