HD/DVR prices...

Ok, I've only been a Directv customer for three months. I want/need to upgrade to HD but can't/won't shell out the $499-$599 for a HD/DVR (I gotta have the DVR part).
I missed out on the $299 HD/DVR deal in September. Based on Directv history, will they do something like that again before the MPEG-4 stuff next year? I know no one can say for sure, but is it the kind of thing that happen's often with Directv?
