Does anyone know if AA plans on offering the 4 major networks in HD? Where I live will never be in a "local" area for Dish or Direct. Plus we are too far from anything to get HD OTA. AA/DNS is picking up some of the current HD feeds out of Atlanta. BUT they are shoving out 16x9 as SD. Really great to have black bars down the sides of a non widescreen commercial, or sometimes you get bars on all 4 sides. The commercials really don't matter but the sides of the program get cut off. And sometimes they switch between standard and widescreen during the program. I just thought with all they are doing, there may be some plans of an HD feed.

I got fed up with paying AAD 12 bucks for the crap and switched to directtv now I have my networks in HD for half the costs. Don,t know what took me so long. Rufus of west va

I think Dish is so far behind that they will never catch up. In a major city such as Memphis, TN, they were offering users a $50 credit toward an antenna so subscribers could get HD OTA. Since they rely on AAD for rural areas, the networks in HD option appears hopeless. I did e-mail AAD several days ago and they did not even bother to respond. And to make things worse, there are rural areas where Dish could offer a SD local package but they don't. I.E.; north central Arkansas. They ignore the option of furnishing the Little Rock, AR locals. In most of the unserved counties if you live on top of a mountain and spend enough on an antenna you can get the Little Rock stations. Probably a grade b signal at the best. I am sure this is true in a lot of other places in the USA.

HD in AAD's future

I just spoke to an American named Sue, in the United States, who said AAD was in the process of gearing up to provide the networks in HD!!!!! Great news for Dish users that have no current alternative but to switch to direct tv. How long? Unknown but working on.

Well if Sue is telling the truth, this is good news.

Anyone know if there are some local shows from Atalanta of San Francisco nets that have their own local HD programming. The news? For example.

In NYC, CBS, NBC and ABC do local news in HD but not Fox.

Hopefully the Superstations will come soon too. But I guess they will just stay Stupidstations.

We watch the news on Atlanta CBS and NBC. One or both are high def. John

OH.
I am not aware of any spot feed locals in HD that I can get in Sharp County, Arkansas. I could probably get the Memphis locals but they are SD only. Last time I looked, Dish didn't even have a date set for Memphis HD. Springfield, MO might work, but again no HD feed, only SD.

I've called several times, and get wildly different answers from CSRs. I've been told everything from they'll move to HD by the end of this year to they aren't allowed to show HD channels because of federal law to what seems to be their standard answer--that they're planning on having them in the future. I'm just hoping that if they do ever make the switch that the picture quality won't resemble that of the SD channels they currently offer.

AAD is poor beyond belief. If they don't upgrade, I'm dropping E* and going to D*. That way I can get nationwide coverage of the networks from New York.

You can get nationwide HD networks from New York right now. See post #9 & 13.

The problem with that is you will lose West Coast Feeds. I prefer to have both East and West coast feeds. I also like having 3 CBS stations (Atlanta, San Francisco and Kansas City-OTA). That way I can have almost all of the NCAA Tournament. (Especially since KC channel broadcasts games on their subchannel also). I realize that not everyone of them is in HD, but I would rather watch in SD then have less channels.

I be written several times to All American Directv and they always give back the same canned response: WE do not provide hd channels.

Dish Network 622/722 + ATSC out (a dream...)

How to get Harrisburg hd locals?
