Hello, I hope someone can help me with this. I've noticed people on here are very helpful. I believe I live in a market that the local channels are only in HD. If I lower my package to one that doesn't qualify for free HD can I actually cancel the HD part? Would they also force me to cancel locals? Thanks in advance.

yes

no. You would get the locals regardless if you pay for the national HD channels.

So the equipment would stay the same but I wouldn't get national HD channels but would get local HD?

what market are you in (where do the locals come from)?

If they are truly in MPEG4 (and on the HD sats) then yes what you posted is right (no national HD but HD locals)

I'm in the Idaho Falls/Pocatello market.

yup those are MPEG4 only so even if you drop HD you would still get the locals in HD
