Just to expand on Garys' explanation, there is really only ONE TBS HD program stream and it lives on channel 542 (moving to its permenant home at 9499 next week). In the electronic programming guide info (what tells the receiver you are on TBS) there is an extra little line of code telling the receiver to also show this channel next to the standard definition counterpart.
Is there a difference? No. When you tune to channel 139 HD or 542 (9499 after the 10th)the receiver will automatically look at the one and only TBS HD stream it is receiving.
BTW there is a difference between the terms "Mapped" and "Mirrored" though many use both terms interchangeably.
Mapped is when a channel stream assigned to one channel slot also has a "tag" on the EPG to show it on another channel. Local channels and HD channels are all MAPPED (not mirrored).
Mirrored is when a program stream is directly assighed to two separate channel numbers directly (no EPG tags). Channels like the superstations (WWOR, KPIX, etc) are mirrored on the 230 channel block and the 8000 channel block. GolTV and others are "mirrored".
There there are the channels that are uplinked more than once (usually on different satellite locations like HD channels at 61.5° and 129°). Many people call this mirroring as well. But in this case there are two separate and distict program streams. In this case there can DEFINITELY be a difference in PQ or other things, though it is rare.
Are you completely confused now? If not I can try explaining some more until your head spins.
See ya
