I think I read that the mounting brackets are different on the AT9 from the AU9.

You are correct, different size foot.

That said, can he leave the mast and foot and slide the dish over top of the other post ?
I think they are both 2", that could work as long as it is plumb.

Btw the slimline antenna is easier to add additional or disconnect cables lines...
i hate that additional connections that you have connect the extra lnbs... the pins on the connection can easly broke...
