HD and Tivo

First-I do not use or purchase the yearly football package from D*,
I notice that the HD Tivo unit is about $300 cheaper at BB now and wonder if this unit is worth the $$. Will any new HD packages or channels be combatiple with this unit in the future. Or do I wait for another new $1k unit to arrive. I currently have two D* tivo units and I need another to replace a bad standard unit. Thanks for the help!

Well, since the Home Media Center(HMC) will be out by year end or beginning of 06, I personally would wait. That is only because I am in one of the first 12 markets that will be changed out to Mpeg-4 HD receivers when the 2 Spaceway satellites go live this fall. I will hopefully get an HD-DVR when I get the equipment switched out. All depends on pricing and credits for my current hardware.
