Hi,
I'm a relative newbie to the site and have a few questions concerning service in Hawaii (specifically on Oahu in case that matters). My questions are listed below.
1. It looks like this type of dish will be installed - - DirecTV DTV 120 cm dish. (Looks like I can't post a link to the dish since I'm a new member.) Does this type of dish require an unobstructed line of sight to the horizon? The reason I ask is that in my general area I have noticed a number of these dishes and some of them do not appear to have a direct line of sight. In fact, some dishes point directly to another structure (e.g., line of sight completely blocked by a neighboring house or their own house). I have a part of the house with a relatively narrow roof line that I’d like to use for the dish installation. The dish would not be visible from the street, but the dish would be pointed directly at my neighbor’s house.
2. I don’t think there is enough room for a sled installation, so would have to penetrate the roof. Any idea on the size of the footprint of the DTV 120 cm dish?
3. It sounds like I won’t know where the dish can be installed until the installer actually comes to the house. If I don’t like the suggested place for the dish can I cancel the installation without incurring any charges?
4. I am currently a TWC customer. Is the suggested sequence to maintain my TWC service until after successful DirecTV installation? There shouldn’t be any problems with the installation if I am still receiving cable service? (I presume that DirecTV will be using the same coaxial cables running through my house that TWC uses.)
5. Any idea if Hawaii has the HR44 yet? I have not found any posts on the board with this information.
Thanks in advance for the responses! This is a very informative site with very helpful members!
