This morning my 522 had the message saying that there is a hard drive error and all recorded programs will need to be cleaned off within 7 days. This concerns me a lot because my 522 is only four days old (I'm on number 4 now). I called the support line and was told that the message is not because of an error on the hard drive. She said that if I don't turn off the tuners at night this error will appear and they are working on a software fix for it. But I still will need to offload any recordings I want to keep in the next 7 days or it will delete them for me.
I'm not convinced that there really isn't a hard drive problem because a couple of days ago the nightly hard drive diagnostics was still running and hand been for over two hours. I canceled it but now I wonder if the reason it was running so long was because there really is a hard drive error.
