H25 stuck at old firmware and refuses to update

I've tried fast.. slow... left handed, with my tongue out, toes crossed.. and almost have my dog trained to key in the sequence.
Given the fact that the box itself seems not to have updated on its own, it makes me wonder if there is some other issue (cabling, etc). Our other H25 has been updating itself.

Is there something wrong with the unit thats not updating, I know you like to be on the latest update, but you'll get the NR and D* will update it when the next NR comes out.

Ok, this gets weirder.. 20th attempt was the charm... sort of... I finally got it to go to the SW download...
it "did" the download.. blue bar moving across the screen.. got to 97% and the bar dimmed a little, and/or a brighter bar started moving across as well.. caught up to the first bar, and then got to 100%.. .did the receiver check... downloaded Sat info.. and back to live TV.
Going to menu -> Settings I see that I am now on.. wait for it.. 0x59d... with a date of 2/27/2012... WTF ?!?!
That is at least 2 NR behind according the tech forum history here (with NRs on 5/17 and 4/25)

So, when I get the H25 to try to SW download.. it says it detects new software... but its 059D (and then grab and (re)installs 059D).... from what I see in this Tech forum there are at least 2 newer releases ?!?! why is it not detecting those? (ie.x5C8, x5CD)
Not all your receivers are always going to get their updates at the same time. I believe they roll them out based on reciver ID numbers and location.

The H25-100 and the H25-500 are on 0x59D while the H25-700 is on 0x5CD. This is the National Release (NR). The last Cutting Edge release (CE) was 0x05E6 and can usually be downloaded during the following times.

Saturday, June 2, 2012 11:00PM - 2:30AM ET
Be warned that CE is beta type software that can cause all types of strange behavior in your receiver. To revert to a more stable NR download at all times with the exception of cutting edge times. To check on what software is currently available for download go to the following website.

I appreciate the info.. I guess I was confused b/c the thread http://www.satelliteguys.us/directv...4793-h2x-hr2x-software-release-05cd-45cd.html suggests I should have 05CD
but if I'm still only supposed to have 059D, oh well. Was hoping to see the guide provide much more movie review/popularity info (ie. sometimes I see movies with the data, but often there doesn't seem to be any data.. not perfect, but its at least something to go by when looking to try to record some stuff you haven't seen without recording all the duds)
