Take a look at the new H24. No word on a new HD DVR, just the HD receiver. PDF is below.

I wonder if they will offer it at $99 like the other H series receivers?

Unknown at this time.

A question I've had is will DirecTV change their ordering process so you can specify a certain model receiver? Example, I have a DECA network for MRV and want a new HD receiver. Can I say I need a H24 since it has built in DECA or will they still ship out a H20 which won't do networking at all, or a H21/23 which would need an external DECA and would they then charge extra for the DECA?

Added the file to the first post as some members rather not go there. ;)

It talks about how fast it is, yet at the end they show that on other receivers it took 4.2 seconds to change a channel and on the H24 it changes channels in 3.75 seconds.

That is still along time to change channels.

The built in DECA is nice though :)

Let's hope the speed things holds up; I need to see when the Chicago market starts getting these as I'm ready to switch an older Mpeg-2 receiver with this unit. I really don't want the HR-23 & would just turn him away if that is what they showed up with. Maybe this would be my first attempt at buying it retail & calling DTV for some type of compensation; don't know how that would work.

Yes there is almost more talk about their site then the product they are promoting. And whats with their name plastered over the picture of the receiver? It's so big that you can't even see the receiver.

The site is a joke and I think they are grasping at straw.

I also think that the CE program is just about dead. When is the last time there was a new feature in a CE? I swear if I see "under the hood changes" anymore I am going to scream.

For being an official mouth piece for directv I was kind of surprised to see them not post the press release about the new ratings system that was posted here.

Ok enough rant, now someone tell me how I get me one of these units. I have the need... the need for speed!

Maybe ......

The next one could be the Whole House item as well ....

The 10K/Annual report the just came out with mentioned the whole home server as coming out in the 2nd half of 2010. I hope it doesn't take that long before a new HD DVR becomes available.

And Scott doesn't put SatGuys copyrights over pictures or spec sheets that he put on his site:rolleyes:

The CE program isn't just about testing new features, it's about testing the entire software package with any changes that might have been made. This allows 'normal' customers to put the code through it's paces before the general public gets it so hopefully they don't see any problems.

If you want to talk about CE being a joke, the CE group here is the bigger joke. For the last CE release for the HR2X/R22 there's a total of 7 posts in the thread, and only two of those report a problem and neither of them have a diagnostig report number in them. At DBS the HR2X/R22 issue thread has 60 post in it with 36 of them logging a diagnostic report numbers. There's also the MRV issue thread for this release which has 21 posts in it with 10 diagnostic reports logged.

Sorry, just how I see it.

No Optical port, ATSC tuner or IR/RF feature while only speeding it up .45 seconds. Too bad.

It will support the AM21 ATSC tuner unit, too bad they didn't come out with a new one with the newer form factor to make it match nicer. I was also surprised there was no TOSLINK output on this. Maybe they just think by now the majority of people have AV receivers that have HDMI inputs on them along with coax so TOSLINK isn't necassary.

Rad please show me where I put my logo over an entire picture.

Your so blind you can't see. If your going to spam then please spam someplace else.

The remote programming feature is a nice addition, type in the model number and it will send the proper codes to the remote via IR.

Still a shame they can't do RF/IR at the same time for us sling users.

They dropped optical ports a while back off their hardware, starting with the HR22 or HR23 if I recall, so I'm not suprised.

I like that they made it smaller - and the wall mount option - NEAT - mount it behind your wall mounted TV, great setup!

Please show me where I said I put your logon over an entire picture. If you're going to bitch state the facts correctly.

Sorry, I thought your site prided itself on open discussion. One member said the CE process was a joke, and I responded to that post. If you consider that spam then guess you're not as open as you say you are.

Yawn - talk about off topic. Too many circumstances to even begin to try and hash this out.

RAD - there has been similar sentiment "over there" about the CE program - lack of traffic has more to do with the program, and less about where it's hosted.
