I have a Directv setup with a H22/100 receiver and a DIRECTV AU9SL3 Three LNB KaKu Slim Line Dish. The dish has 2 leads, each going through a B Band converter and into the #1 and #2 Satellite In inputs in the receiver.

My system was working great until I removed the receiver and lent it to a buddy who connected it to his dish in another town. When I got it back and plugged it back in the same way as before, I got a 771A code. I assumed he had changed the setup for his single wire dish. I have spent a lot of time in the set up menu trying to get it back to the original settings to no avail. I have gone through all 18 dish choices in the setup menu, but I can not get the same local channels from before and I can not get HD on any channels. There is no zip code in the info window and the Dish Type is set to 3-LNB 72.5 Can anyone help?

You need to set it for the SL3 non-SWM dish not the 72.5 one, unless you use the 72.5 for locals.
If you do have the 72.5, how is it connected?

BTW, if you have two lines connected to the receiver you have the HR22.

Thanks for the quick response.

First, you are right about the HR22.

Second, I changed the setup to Slimline-3 and got errors on both tuners:
Odd(13V) 103?
Even(18V) 101?

I selected CONTINUE, and after it finished I was able to get HD, but none of my local stations in either HD or SD. i.e. channels 2 thru 38 do not even show up in the guide.
So, I am much better off, but still need the locals.

Also, my dish config settings are:

SLIMLINE-3
02: Multiswitch
Dual
B-Band Converters required

I am continuing to get HD, but no local channels in HD or SD

here are my signal strength readings

I'm sure he problem lies in the receiver setup, not any external switches, since he problem started only after the receiver was set up with a different dish

a few questions:
1. Am I only acquiring 3 satellites? I thought the installer told me I was getting 5.
2. which satellite provides local channels?
3. which satellite HD?
4. anywhere I can go to make sense of this data

Not knowing which sat you get you locals from I can't tell for sure, but it looks like your 99 and 103 spot beams are a little low.
Exactly what locals do you have? All I can see is that you are in NC.

Yes, I have b band converters. I marked everything and put it back exactly as I before. So, I think the only difference is the receiver set up. The signals might have been a little low for the local channels, but I never noticed a problem. And the my receiver was only away for a week.

Also, when I was going through all of the satellite choices in the set up, there was one (I don't remember which) that gave me local HD for the channels a the location I moved it to, but no HD on any of the other channels like CNN,ESPN etc.

Is there not one that is dedicated to local channels?

I am a total newbie at this, but I found this on another site.
Network 666 WRAL 5 21 SW1 @103W cbshd.ch
this is a channel I want to get, and the is no 103W even listed in my strength report
could this be a clue?
when I chose SL-3 for my satellite type, I got an error message saying there were errors in 99(even-18v) and 103(both odd and even channels), but I continued through the set up.

WRAL hd is on transponder 21 on 103s, so you have very good signal strength there. I'm guessing it's in your setup. Try rerunning it from the start.

Restting did not work. I have choices for SlimLine 72.5 deg and 95 deg. Can you tell me what that means. I assume the 103 deg means the direction my dish is pointing. Is the 72.5 the same?
Jim

Do you get ANY channels? I am thinking your dish may not be aimed correctly. You can't aim for a specific satellite and/or transponder.

103 W(est) is an orbital location, NOT where the dish should be pointing.

What is your zip code; and what azimuth is the dish heading set at now?

I am getting everything but my local channels in either HD or SD.

I was actually getting everything fine, but I took my receiver to another location and a friend set it up for his dish. When I returned, I hooked everything up exactly as I left it. I had to go back into set up to change my settings to my satellite. I set it to Slimline-3. Now I get HD on all the premium channels but no local channels.

I tried the other satellite types in setup. Some of the give me no HD in the premium channels, but HD on the local channels for the second location.

So, I am pretty sure it is only a settings issue and no one can seem to figure it out. I am trying to understand what all of these terms mean so I can figure it out myself.
Jim

OK, well it is a great sign you are getting all your other channels. So setup may be a good guess. I would also recommend getting all back the way it was; dish setup and all, and then calling DirecTV and tell them you lost your locals. Maybe a signal rehit/authorization will help.
