H...or V? How to tell?

Wow...
I think I and the rest of us are becoming DISHOLICS!!!
Whenever I go anywhere I have a tendancy to look high and low for any dish that may be available for grabs.
Is there a cure???
LOL

I would put it on one of my other Primestars already set on a satellite, and test each output individually to see which one picks up the H or V transponders.

I'm setting up my latest find, the 1.0 with the "Dove bar" LNB. http://www.satelliteguys.us/fta-shack/168642-fresh-1-0-tonight.html
The outputs are not marked. How do you tell which port is H and which is V?

Euro,

I don't know that there would be a method other than hooking it up and testing it. You have a 50/50 chance to be right the first chance and 100% chance the second time! LOL :)

Sorry to be funny, but mine are not marked either and I wouldn't know unless I connected them and played around a bit. Unless someone has the same LNB and will tell you that the H is on the right or left side.

Radar

Yup....the serial # on the LNB had a V at the beginning and an H at the end...I thought it was just a serial number until a closer inspection revealed it! (duh) Thanks for the help guys! :D:up

Okay, so now post a picture of that location.
That way, the next time this question comes up, we'll just point to your picture for the answer! - :up

That's what I did when I was testing a dove bar LNB recently. I mounted it on my G-18 Channel Master and hooked up to one port. Nothing on vertical, so I changed the port. Everything came in.

Since I usually have a stacked LNB on that dish, to the receiver everything is vertical. So to test horizontal, I switched ports and rotated the LNB 90 degrees.

Actually FINDING dishes that are ripe for picking is the only TREATMENT. There is NO CURE!

I just want to add, if you are hooking this LNBF up to a multiswitch,

Connect the H to the 18V, and
connect the V to the 13V side of the switch.

hmmm...I thought the markings (H & V) was on the other side of the LNB....at least one of mine had it that way

Maybe they are, Iceberg.
Show us a picture. :)

Hey, did you just answer 10 posts in 10 minutes?
Trying to set a new track record?

Thanks for the nice picture, eurosport84. - :up

Thanks, Sadoun! This info helps me, as I will be rewiring my entire FTA system to use the P* LNBs, with the seperate H/V on all 4 of my P* dishes.
