Just as I was about to leave for work this morning, my DVR was displaying a message that my guide had not been updated for over an hour and that I should call DirecTV.

I plan to do a system reset when I get home, before calling D. Does anyone know if a reset will cure this issue? :)

In my experience with my H23-600, resetting the receiver causes the guide to depopulate, then slowly repopulate with guide data over the next 24hrs. If there is something fundamentally wrong with your system(dish LNB, multiswitch, cabling, etc.) preventing the receiver from getting new guide data, it will hang on the "searching for satellite signal" screen, for a few minutes, then it goes to a blank screen. If you then press the "Guide" button, you'll find that you have no channels or programs, and unable to tune to anything.

If you choose not to reset the receiver, it will try to get the satellite signal for 9-10hrs before initiating a reboot on its own, leaving you in the exact same position.

Thanks, Guys. We had a little snow. Not much, but some had settled on the Dish. I brushed it off and all is now well. Thanks again. :)
