The only thing that bothers me about the EV 5900 PVR is that the guide is too short; days.

How many days of guide does the *C PVR hold?

That might be what makes the final decision between going with *C or EV for HD.

Thanks!!

The 5XX series can hold 10 days. SC pays their supplier for a 7 day guide. It is presently 3 days as it was found that the 7 day guide was causing freezeups on the 500. After the 530/505 finally is finally stabilized, it will be downloaded to 500s and hopefully the 7 day guide will return.

I'm PM you in December, that's when I'm going HD, to see if it happens. That's my ONLY compliant about EV, that 2 day guide.

First of all the 5900 is not an HD PVR.
You would have to look at the 9200.
I don't want to start another comparison war but Bev has more programming then *C does. The receiver has the capability of an 11 day guide but the current firmware locks it @ 2 days. It may be extended to 5 or so days in the future. There are other minor things in the firmware that have to be fixed first (like iTV or caller id not working).

Yes, I know, I was just saying that I was going to get HD and was wondering which would be best for me the EV HD DVR or the *C DVR.

I really like the extended guide on the E* DVR and was wondering if *C's would be more like it.

I was unaware that current firmware locked the guide. I was told, on here I think, that EV does not send info that far ahead. I really wish they would at least put an extended guide on sat 82.

Frankly, I am going to wait for the UCentric Whole Home Server. Prices for standalone HDVRs are high, storage is limited and MPEG4 is coming.

correct. The guide is only 44 hours and its on 91. They should add a EEPG on 82, but then what about the people who dont have a dish at 82. Sounds corny with HD on 82, but some people may not have 82 :)
