I have found 2 sites that are helpful in finding which ota stations are available. Antennaweb.org is good about finding out about antennas, but it does not always tell about all of the stations available in an area.

Using this site you can find your longitude and latitude and input it along with how many miles away you want to search for stations. It is interesting to play around with.

With this site you input your zipcode to find out information about the locals available along with comments about them. I found this helpful in my search for an NBC station because the one in my dma is Eau Claire, WI, and is 58 miles from me and there is some question about its power. Using this site I found that the NBC station in Rochester, MN is an alternative (66 miles away) and it is operating at full power although it is not in my dma. This is good information to know with the super dma rolling out. Also this site mentioned that KTTC Rochester has towers closer to where I live (La Crosse, WI) and that it might be a possibility that they would broadcast an hd signal at some future date from these towers which would be more easily received by me.
I hope this helps somebody else. Information is power.
