Hello:
Just to let everyone know, I had a guy come down about 7:30 this morning to peak my dish..Here less than a half hour and had my dish peaked for Galaxy 10-123 W..Charged me $75.00, which was well worth it to me, to finally get this going..I have 88-92 signal with over 25-30 percent quality, which gives me a good picture..A few questions..
In doing a Power Scan on my Fortec Dynamic, I found several "radio" channels with numbers like Ch1, 20500, 40000, etc..But no sound when I tune to them..Wondering what that might that be.

Also, I find that channels 8 and 14 have no picture..Are they scrambled or is there anything on at anytime on these channels..

I want to thank everyone here for being patient with the newbie..You've all been a great help..I've leaned a lot..

Edit:Watched the installer use the Super Buddy Satellite Finder..I wanna get me one of those..

Congrats!

There are some channels that will be found on a blind scan that don't come in, nature of the beast. Investing in a meter for your next dish is a great idea, A Super Buddy is a bit pricey for casual use, a Channel Master will let you know when you're on a bird, but won't let you know which one, less than $100.

Congrats!
I'm not sure how the quality runs on the Fortec as I don't have one but 25-30% doesn't sound like a whole lot. I usually like over 60 as a minimum on my Pansat and Coolsat units. Maybe someone else can chime in on this topic.
What size dish? Which LNB?

Congratulations! You're going to enjoy ThisTV and also AMG TV when they have movies on. Maybe some of the other AMG programs? Plenty of Good programs on G18.

I knowq the Merc II reads low but 30 seems too low

The Dynamic is the same unit

K, that's what I was thinking. Especially if he paid a professional to come and do it.
Heck, I'd be embarrassed to take $75 for pointing a dish and not getting more quality than that.

unless there was possibly rain in the area or maybe Little Rock but I know they put a "choke" on the meter to get it down because folks would get screaming results on a strong TP but issues on weak ones

but I think 30 is too low....hopefully someone can tune in 123W with a Merc II or Dynamic and report back

I found that the Universal LNB had not been skewed after he left..After playing with the skew a bit I got some better pictures on channels that had been pixelated quite a bit..I checked Little Rock earlier, they had a storm going through there. Once the weather gets better I am going to try with hopefully a hobbyist's help, to get the motor back on..

One quick question, I thought KTWO-ABC Casper, Wyoming was on Galaxy 18, but I havent seen it yet..

Glad you got the problem figured out, something as simple as a little tweaking can be the difference between plenty of quality and lots of annoying pixellation and missing channels.

Keep at it, you'll be setting things up and peaking your signal like a pro!

I'm still beginning to wonder if my alignment is somewhat off........

Is 123W within my motors reach?
