FCC-Federal Communication Commission, they make DBS possible.

DMA-Designated Market Area, Used by the FCC, D* & E* to determine your television market for LIL service, and by V* to determine your local channel map.

LIL-Local In To Local, The offering of local channels via satellite to subscribers.

TP-(Also TR) Transponder, a set of frequencies on a satellite similiar to a Television Channel. DBS Transponders normally are 13-14MHz wide (TV channels are 6MHz wide)

Also, how about RGB, VGA, S-video, Y/Pr/Pb, Toslink, S/PDIF... Do you think we need to explain those as well?

I know that RGB, VGA, S-Video, Y/Pr/Pb are types of video connections. RGB is Red-Green-Blue (the colors in a television pixel), I can't remember what VGA stands for (Video something), I don't know what S-Video and Y/Pr/Pb mean. I have no idea what Toslink and S/PDIF are. Is S/PDIF something like the A-PID, V-PID, P-PID used in MPEG transmission?

Toslink - is a connector format for fiber optic digital audio cables.

VGA - characteristics of a computer display, in particular the maximum number of colors and the maximum image resolution.

Just to remind everyone that we a Glossary of terms use in the forum. If you would like to add other terms, please add them in this thread and I will add them.
