Alright, I'm old and not too tech savvy (ignore the fact that I'm on a computer posting in a forum) and I have some general questions relevant to Dish Network service. I have 3 tv's: 1 hd, 2 standards. (The standard ones are my main ones, weird I know) Anyhow is the "Dish America" package only hd signal? If so that would mean that I would need the Duo Vip 222k receiver correct? Now would that receiver only be able to put out the channels from the "Dish America" package to the hdtv and no channels to the standard sets? If I mainly want to receive channels on the 2 standard sets and the hdtv set isn't a priority would the "America's Top 20" be the better option and choose a standard def receiver like the Duo 322 instead? Any info you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated

You want to get hd equipment installed. All tv's will get the same channels. It doesn't matter if the tv is hd or not. If you have standard tv's the picture will be in standard def. I know you said you currently only have one hd tv, but just keep in mind that you can only get hd where a reveiver is installed. You could go with a 222/211 receiver combination (one of them installed at the hd tv) - or you could go with 3 211's (this way if you ever replace either of your standard def tv's you'll already be set up for hd.
We do require that all HD equipment be installed in the home in order to subscribe to the Dish America package since it's an HD only package.

Yea, you can install pretty much any receiver to any tv. It will all be formatted to fit their capabilities.
Keep in mind that the 3-211's combination costs $7 more than the 222 and 211 combination suggested. It's also always better to have HD-capable equipment for reliability. If it's leased anyways, there's no cost difference...

Hi SOG, first welcome to the group! Something to think about is how far apart are the TVs? Do you need to be able to watch two different channels at the same time? If two of the TVs are close enough that you could use one remote you might be able to get by with one 211 receiver for two of the TVs. For example my HD TV is hooked up to the HDMI output from my 211 and the small SD TV I have in the kitchen is hooked up to the RF coax output from the same 211 receiver. I can only watch one channel at a time but it is nice to be able to watch the news while I'm in the kitchen and can not see the HD set. Later, DC
I would go with the 3 211's. This will give you the option of adding an external drive to each and making them DVR's. A one time fee of $40 to add the DVR capability to the 211's without the monthly DVR fee.
Your location is EARTH so there is no determination if you are Eastern Arc or Western Arc. Eastern Arc requires VIP (HD) receivers to get the MPEG4 signals.
You could get a 722 series dvr and place that at the hdtv. Then run the home distribution to the sd tv's.
